The De Macross GT1 has been created and engineered to provide true performance in Elegance. It defies the traditional form follows function (or visa versa) convention employed by current sports car builders by enveloping the most technically advanced vehicle platform incorporating technologies currently used in F1, including some that are banned, and the use of carbon fibre composite materials, in a flow formed design theme which brings the elegance of culture to the modern era.

Design of the De Macross GT1 is not only inspired by the founder of the company, Mr. Jahong Hur, it is his direct creation. Mr. Hur has spent thousands of hours working with some of the most talented internationally trained designers to synergize the De Macross theme in the GT1 and other soon to be released models. From the overall proportions of the GT1, to the curvature of each body surface and radius of the fillets, Mr. Hur and his team of designers has brought ageless emotion back to automotive design. To place the De Macross GT1 in the ultra performance sports car spectrum, and bring instant world wide recognition and acceptance, De Macross has engaged Multimatic Engineering to provide the performance. For over 25 years, Multimatic has been helping automotive OEM's and niche vehicle builders to bring performance vehicles to the street, from the Shelby Series 1 to the latest crown jewel of Aston Martin, the One-77. Multimatic's engineering expertise and advanced technologies will ensure that the De Macross GT1 exceeds all expectations of the world's most discerning automotive enthusiasts.

The De Macross GT1 is created to perform both on the street and track, with maybe just a fraction more bias toward the track, encompassing overall dimensions reminiscent of Le Mans winners. This mid-engine, 2 seat "GT racer" is built on a novel Hybrid Carbon Fibre – Aluminum monocoque tub structure, with integrated front and rear sub-frame modules for suspension, steering, engine and driveline mounting. The Multimatic engineered De Macross Hybrid Composite chassis structure incorporates specific application of aluminum extrusions and machined from billet components, carbon fibre solid and honey comb cored laminates, and has been structurally optimized to provide a stiff and stable platform at the lowest possible weight, while meeting global safety and certification standards (FMVSS and EEC). The GT1 suspension system is derived directly from Multimatic's work with race winning Formula 1, LMP and sports car teams. Mounted in-board and actuated through a push-rod, the Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve (DSSV) dampers are 4-way independently adjustable for precise control. A unique active ride height control system drops the vehicle to ground clearance by 28 mm at highway speeds (tunable) to provide increased aerodynamic downforce and dynamic stability. The ride height reduction is smartly achieved by changing the spring/damper actuation rocker motion ratio, which also concurrently increases the effective spring rate, resulting in improved vehicle platform control at higher speeds. In addition, an industry first hydraulic anti-roll device will be introduced on the De Macross GT1.

The overall on-road performance of the De Macross GT1 will rival any and all of the "supercars" built since the term was coined, and to provide the GT1 owners with the intangible essence of exclusive ownership, each body will be hand crafted from aluminum sheet and draped over the powerful machine, truly providing Performance in Elegance.

[DMMC GT1: Production Prototype Completed]

Manufacturing of the first DMMC GT1 production prototype is complete.
The GT1 was constructed at Multimatic's locations in Canada and the UK in accordance with specialized capabilities of each site.

The following photos show various body parts being fabricated at the UK facility. Each panel is hand-formed over single sided forms from aluminum sheet (5754)
All machined from billet aluminum (6082-T6) components are created using precision 3 or 5 axis CNC machines.
